Special events
PIDO typically hosts one big and several small events every year. We need help with organizing, registration, publicity, prizes, and wrangling dogs and people. Extroverts and party people, this is for you.
Coordinator: Organize and engage volunteers
PIDO needs a volunteer-engagement coordinator. Potential volunteers reach out through schools, clubs, organizations, and employee groups doing community service. Others discover opportunities from PIDO posts online. A coordinator could build on that and amplify the good PIDO can do.
Cleanups and weed pulls
Many people do some cleanup whenever they visit Point Isabel. Help PIDO finish the job: Join our organized cleanups and weed pulls from 10 to noon the last Saturday of most months.
Adminstrative & technical assistance
Volunteers working at home update our snail mail and email addresses, log donations and new memberships, generate donation receipts and thank you letters, and register people and pups for some of our events. A few hours a week or a month really helps us out.
Communications and social media savvy
Like to write? Good at layout and design? Take pics or video? Your timing is really good…in 2025 PIDO turns 40 and Point Isabel Regional Shoreline turns 50. We need help getting the word out.
Foxtail control
A PIDO board member has explored techniques for weeding foxtails that reduces the danger to dogs. His work will ramp up again in late February and continue into August. Even 15 minutes of your time could help a dog avoid injury with foxtails. To learn more, email Bob O'Brien at deathtofoxtails@gmail.com.
Community Relations
Help and continue and expand PIDO's engagement with East Bay Regional Park District personnel, city and county agencies, elected officials, Point Isabel user groups, merchants and businesses, and environmental groups.
Join PIDO’s board
Our all-volunteer Executive Board of Directors is currently looking for new board members with a passion for our cause. Help us advocate for people and their dogs, and support PIDO, Point Isabel, and East Bay Regional Park District. The time commitment is flexible.
