HELP PIDO KEEP GOING STRONG FOR
ANOTHER 40 YEARS

Point Isabel Dog Owners & Friends has a long history of advocating for dogs and their humans and improving Point Isabel Regional Shoreline for all visitors. Without PIDO there would be no off-leash access at Point Isabel.

We formed over Thanksgiving weekend in 1985 — 40 years ago — in response to the EBRPD suddenly making Point Isabel on-leash-only. Back then, “dog people” had no collective voice — and not much influence. That weekend, one of PIDO’s founders, Sylvia Schild, called an emergency meeting at her home with as many dog walking advocates as could be alerted by word of mouth. PIDO was formed, and in 1987 we negotiated the off-leash dog walking rules that are still in effect today.

PIDO is a voice for park users and particularly for dog owners. We help educate visitors about park rules and advocate preserving the park’s natural environment and recreation opportunities, and protecting wildlife. We hold regular cleanups, weed pulls, foxtail remediation, and organize events such as an Earth Day Weekend volunteer work party and a Barktoberfest dog costume contest around Halloween. We also host Off-leash Skills 101 sessions every quarter with a professional trainer to help people hone their pets’ recall and dog walking skills.

Over the years, PIDO has contributed more than $50,000 to East Bay Regional Park District's Regional Parks Foundation toward the purchase of MuttMitt® bags and other improvements, such as funding two bulletin boards and replacement trees.

Our goal is to keep contributing to Point Isabel for many more years. We need your help to do it.

Please join PIDO. If you’re already a member, please consider making a donation and volunteering.
Your continued help will keep Point Isabel a fantastic place for all.

Throughout the years, PIDO’s all-volunteer organization has worked to keep the park clean, safe, and off-leash
